Story LineUtopistan, once the
western province of the New Republic, declared, fought for and
received it's independence in the early 1900s. Since that time,
small border skirmishes and attacks from either side have been part
of the daily lives of both Utopistan and New Republic citizens.
After several recently failed peace talks and summits, the last
resulting in the capture of a top Utopistan official, the tension
between the two nations has reached boiling point.
World Security Inc (WSI), a multi-national security company, seeking
to capitalize on the conflict, has secretly entered into agreements
with each country to provide them with nuclear weaponry in exchange
for resources that can be monetized on the open and black markets.
On August 20th 2008, prompted by
recent violence along the border, the
United Nations has imposed a bilateral cease-fire and established a
neutral zone. Despite the protests of many anti-war groups, WSI has secured the contract to maintain this
neutral zone on behalf of the United Nations Security Council.
